Syndromes and a Century
Directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul (call me “Joe”)
"The film is a tribute to the director’s parents and is divided into two parts, with the characters and dialogue in the second half essentially the same as the first, but the settings and outcome of the stories are different. The first part is set in a hospital in rural Thailand while the second half is set in a Bangkok medical center."
This completely slipped under my radar, but I really loved his sublime Tropical Malady, one of those films I saw opening night here in Los Angeles, with 3 people in the theater, and 2 of them ended up walking out out of “boredom.” There are some films made solely for the experience on the big screen, and Tropical Malady was one of them.
